“It’s my personal and professional belief that too many women have had unnecessary hysterectomies. Based on my experience, this is a last resort for me after all other options have been explored.”
-Dr. Steve Yu
Fibroid Treatments
For years, hysterectomies were performed to treat fibroids in the uterus. Hysterectomies entail partially or fully removing the uterus. This procedure eliminates a woman’s period and her ability to bear children.
Dr. Yu believes that women have been mistreated when it comes to gynecologic care, and he works to treat uterine problems without removing the uterus and ovaries. Because of this, Dr. Yu only performs hysterectomies when absolutely necessary, which he believes is a rare occurrence. Whenever possible, fibroids should be treated with minimally invasive procedures, leaving the uterus and ovaries intact.
Learn MoreThe Acessa Procedure
The Acessa procedure treats uterine fibroids by applying controlled heat to the fibroids. This heat destroys the fibroid tissue and causes the fibroids to shrink over time.
Learn MoreMyomectomy Surgery
Myomectomy surgery works to remove uterine fibroids without removing or harming the uterus. There are many myomectomy options, but the uterine fibroids are typically removed through small incisions made on the abdomen.
This surgery is a good option for women who wish to preserve their uterus’s functionality and have children in the future.
Learn MoreVaginal Rejuvenation
Dr. Yu believes that every woman deserves to feel comfortable and confident with her own body, especially after childbirth. Because of this, he offers labiaplasty surgery, clitoral hood reduction, hymen restoration, and remodeling of the labia majora for women looking to improve the appearance and functionality of their vagina and vulva.
Learn MoreUrinary Incontinence Surgery
Urinary incontinence (loss of bladder control) is a common problem among women, especially after childbirth. It can be inconvenient, embarrassing, and adversely affect the quality of life.
Currently, most incontinence surgeries involve using a “sling” made out of a plastic mesh. Unfortunately, the mesh has many unwanted consequences, such as vaginal pain and mesh erosion.
Dr. Yu offers a minimally invasive procedure for urinary incontinence treatment (without using a mesh) to help women regain control of their bladders and prevent embarrassing mishaps.
